C&eacute:sar Franck is the one bond in common to all three composers of this interesting and contrasting programme. Franck was the first important teacher of Louis Vierne, an inspiration to and compatriot of Joseph Jongen, and a predecessor of Langlais at the console of Sainte Clotilde, as well as being the teacher of one of Langlais’ instructors, Charles Tournemire.
