HAVPCD211 – I sing of a Maiden
Winchester is fortunate in possessing two groups of singing-boys of outstanding ability, both now educated together at the Pilgrims’ School in the Cathedral Close. The Cathedral Choristers and the College Quiristers(the name is an archaic form of ‘chorister’) trace their origins back to the days of William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester from 1367 to 1404. This is the first time that the two groups have sung together in a trebles-only recording.
