HAVPCD211 – I sing of a Maiden

Winchester is fortunate in possessing two groups of singing-boys of outstanding ability, both now educated together at the Pilgrims’ School in the Cathedral Close. The Cathedral Choristers and the College Quiristers(the name is an archaic form of ‘chorister’) trace their origins back to the days of William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester from 1367 to 1404. This is the first time that the two groups have sung together in a trebles-only recording.

HAVPCD209 – Millennium Music The Millennium Mass, Prayer, and Hymn: Paul Inwood

The Millennium Mass was commissioned by the Millennium Committee of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portsmouth, as a way of celebrating the Millennium and also of helping to unify the diocese. The composer, Paul Inwood, also wrote a Millennium Prayer and Hymn to go with the Mass. The music is in a wide variety of styles and is performable by whatever resources are available in parishes and communities.
