HAVPCD271 – Requiem and Missa brevis Dom Sebastian Wolff O.S.B.
The Requiem, composed specifically as an act of worship and remembrance rather than as a concert work, dates from 1988-91. In the composer’s words, it is ‘a modest attempt to express in sound a deep feeling of supplication to God for people who died in this [20th] century of violence.’ The Missa brevis was written in response to a request by the Headmaster of Buckfast Abbey School for a musical work to mark the Feast of Our Lady of Buckfast in May 1985.

HAVPCD270 – Cantata for a New Era Dom Sebastian Wolff O.S.B.
The Cantata is Father Sebastian Wolff’s most recent choral work and it marks the Millennium celebrations of the year 2000. Concerned with the extensive plans for country-wide secular celebrations, Father Sebastian became interested in creating something which reflected the true significance of the Millennium year. The text of the Cantata thus focuses on the prophecy, birth, and fulfilment of Christ in a succession of movements for soloists, chorus, organ, and narrator.
