The Missa de Angelis, together with Credo III, was widely used by Catholic congregations for the singing of Mass in Latin before the Second Vatican Council. It has remained the most popular of the plainsong Masses. Benediction is an expression of devotion to the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist. It has largely become superseded in parish churches by the evening Mass.
