This is the first recording using the new Bernard Aubertin organ in the great austere Abbey housing the shrine of Saint Anthony of Egypt. By universal acclaim, M. Aubertin has provided the musical world with one of the finest contemporary examples of French Classical organ-building. He has reconstructed a new instrument using a few of the original pipes from Scherrer’s large instrument of c.1620 within the two magnificent organ cases. The programme is an amalgam of European musical influences prevalent nearly 300 years ago.
