Worth Abbey is an adventure in Christian living – an adventure which has at its heart a community of Benedictine monks. These men seek to follow the Gospel of Jesus Christ within a framework provided by their Rule of Life and their Abbot. Worth draws its inspiration from the ancient Rule of St Benedict, adapting it to modern needs.

The community meets in the church five times a day for communal prayer (the Office) so as to sanctify each moment of life. The community prayer is made up of hymns, psalms, Scripture readings and prayers. The Office of St Benedict is sung on two feasts of St Benedict celebrated each year: 21 March – the Passing of St Benedict; and 11 July – St Benedict, Patron of Europe. On these days the Church remembers the person whose ‘little rule for beginners’ has had such a significant impact on the Church and on society over the centuries.
