| Soloists | David Hill (Organ) |
| Location | Trinity Cathedral, Portland, Oregan |
| Date Recorded | May 1994 |
At first glance David Hill’s recital might appear to present more contrast than unity, and even to feature its solitary representative of the Baroque period as a mere incongruous observance. However closer examination of the repertoire’s history illuminates the train of thought behind such a programme.

David Hill is Organist and Master of the Music at Winchester Cathedral and one of Britain’s leading choral directors, in demand both at home and abroad as choir-trainer, orchestra conductor, and organist. About the organ he writes: ‘The tonal and mechanical design of Rosales’ Opus 11 organ is the result of a continuing desire to approach organ-building from an eclectic point of view, both historically informed and carefully conceived and executed… It is, in my view, a remarkable organ, imploring the player to convey the message of the music and responding accordingly.’
