HAVPCD199 - Winchester Cathedral Organs Organ duets with David Hill and Stephen Farr

Location Winchester Cathedral
Date Recorded September 1996

The organ is not usually thought to be the most sociable of instruments, and organists, stuck in their chilly lofts, wearing their special pedalling shoes, can be a solitary breed; so it may be something of a surprise to discover that there is a large and varied repertoire for two organists, whether they are at the same keyboard or occupying their own separate benches. The music on this recording has been chosen to give some idea of the repertoire available, to show off the capabilities of the three organs in Winchester Cathedral, and last but not least to show that organists can have some of the best tunes!
