David Goode comments: ‘This collection of some of the most popular pieces in the organ repertoire is also a selection of some of my favourite ‘lollipops’, which recur on recital programmes, for weddings, or are brought to me by pupils. Without fail they work spectacularly on the Rieger organ at Christ Church, whose quality, character, and sheer panache has been a constant inspiration. I hope they prove as enjoyable to listen to as to play.’

The organ in Christ Church Cathedral today is completely new, built by Rieger of Austria in 1978-9. The Father Smith case has been restored to its slender origin, if not depth, and what remains of the original woodwork has been incorporated into the new case. The action of the four manuals and pedals is mechanical throughout, with a piston-setting system incorporated into the mechanical stop action.
