The Choir of Guildford Cathedral was formed in 1961 under Barry Rose, the Cathedral’s first Organist and Choirmaster. Since the consecration of the Cathedral, the choir has maintained a daily Sung Evensong and has built up an enviable reputation for its singing. When Barry Rose moved to St Paul’s Cathedral in 1974, he was succeeded by Philip Moore, who in turn was appointed to York Minster in 1983. Andrew Millington then took over and remained for 16 years before moving to Exeter Cathedral in 1999. His successor is Stephen Farr, who was previously Assistant Master of the Music at Winchester Cathedral.
