Since its début broadcast of the works of Albert Ketélbey for BBC Radio 2 in 1990, Cambridge Voices has broadened its repertoire, mining the rich seam of choral treasures from its native heritage, rediscovering less well-known music (sometimes justly neglected), and commissioning, performing, and recording works from new and exciting composers. With so much sacred music in the repertoire, it is not surprising that peaks in the choir’s concert diary reflect the liturgical calendar. Annual concerts around Cambridge for Advent and for Holy Week are matched by a week of events on tour in France to celebrate the Assumption of the B.V.M. in August. These regular events are amplified (occasionally) by television and radio recordings and other overseas tours, and (frequently) by as many other performances as possible within the demands of everyday life.
