Throughout the centuries, the organ as a musical instrument has been viewed in its context as a vehicle of sacred worship in the Christian Church. Much of the repertoire therefore reflects this function, and this recording takes us through compostitions from various periods which are specific for festivals and seasons in the Church year from Advent to All Saints.

Andrew Millington has been Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral since September 1999, having moved there after 16 years as Organist and Master of the Choristers at Guildford Cathedral. His other solo recordings include performances on the organs of Exeter and Guildford Cathedrals, Wymondham Abbey in Norfolk, and on the historic Hill organ of Kidderminster Town Hall.
