The German Romantic a cappella choral repertoire is perhaps less well known than its symphonic counterpart, but is nevertheless a vital thread in the cultural fabric of its time. As this recording demonstrates, there was hardly a significant composer who did not contribute to it, whether they are now otherwise known for their operas (Weber, Wagner), songs (Wolf), or symphonies (Bruckner); or whether they were exponents of ?absolute? music (Brahms and Reger) or ?programme? music (Strauss).

The Rodolfus Choir has made seven recordings on the Herald label which have all attracted extremely complimentary press notices, with tracks broadcast on BBC and Classic FM radio. Several music festivals have invited Rodolfus to sing, including The Three Choirs (four times), Southern Cathedrals (twice), the 2002 Dublin Cathedral Organ Festival, and the 2003 Oundle International Organ Festival. The choir made an overwhelming impression at all the concerts on its first tour in the United States at Easter 2003, and more tours are planned for the future.
