Roger Sayer notes: The choice of music came about while I was thinking of pieces that have caused a stir at some point during my time at Rochester. There is no particular theme, but quite simply the opportunity to put on disc some of the music that has become part of Rochester Cathedral.
Roger Sayer began his musical career as a chorister in Portsmouth and went on to study at the Royal College of Music. Since leaving the College he has been in regular demand as a recitalist and accompanist. He won Third Prize at the 1989 St Albans International Competition and, in the same year, was appointed Assistant Organist at Rochester Cathedral, becoming Organist and Director of Music there five years later.
