The Service of Lessons and Carols by Candlelight is traditionally and justifiably one of the highlights of the Schools musical and religious year. The music here represents some of the best moments of the recent services and includes the first recording of two carols commissioned by the School especially for the services.
Felsted Preparatory School has an enviable reputation for the arts and sport, alongside a strong academic tradition. Almost two-thirds of the school learn a musical instrument, so, as well as the choirs featured on this recording, the school also runs a flourishing full orchestra, a wind band, a string ensemble, a training orchestra, and a Concert Choir of almost 100 voices, as well as smaller chamber groups and a chamber orchestra.
The Chapel Choir is made up of 20 trebles and, together with a number of altos, tenors and basses drawn from parents, staff and pupils, and friends of the School and of the Senior School, it leads all Prep School chapel services.
