Info & track listings
The music of this recording, almost all of it favourite works of the choir and its audiences, is presented in various groups and sequences: The Heritage of Kings’, Music for Holy Week, In honour of Our Lady and others, Advent by Candlelight, and Prayers and supplicationsSince its d & eacute; but broadcast of the works of Albert Ket & eacute;lbey for BBC Radio 2 in 1990.
Cambridge Voices has broadened its repertoire, mining the rich seam of choral treasures from its native heritage, rediscovering less well-known music (sometimes justly neglected), and commissioning, performing, and recording works from new and exciting composers.
With so much sacred music in the repertoire, it is not surprising that peaks in the choirs concert diary reflect the liturgical calendar. Annual concerts around Cambridge for Advent and for Holy Week are matched by a week of events on tour in France to celebrate the Assumption of the B.V.M. in August.
These regular events are amplified (occasionally) by television and radio recordings and other overseas tours, and (frequently) by as many other performances as possible within the demands of everyday life.
